Again, another charming screen. The coaster looks great and I actually really like the sundials! -

Everything in its right place - this is almost perfect to me.
The use of detail here is astounding. It doesn’t overwhelm or overkill, it charms and invites the viewer to seek out all the subtle intricacies you’ve woven into the architecture. In places it reminds me of Toon’s IOA and in others it reminds me of Florence. And that’s such a good thing. The colours are beautiful and you balance them with total control. The flowers on the path are brilliant and the foliage lovely. It all works so well.
When I left NE years ago “semi-realism” (I hate that term btw) was reaching what seemed its apex and Turtle the style’s master. It was hard to imagine back then a real future for “semi-realism” in RCT2 because cliché themes and custom scenery choices by us parkmakers meant that the style was becoming too familiar. It started to lack originality or it was becoming predictable and its progression started to wane. I left NE before I did anything truly good and original (IoE is pretty half-assed) but if I had stuck at it I would have liked to move in a direction similar to the one you’re going with this. The style here is familiar but innovative, it contains history—you can see Toon, Turtle, Kevin, sacoasterfreak here—but looks to the future.
The real challenge, however, is how you handle other thematic areas. Assuming that this is a large scale project, my advice would be to venture into more innovative and original thematic ideas for areas… it’s so easy in RCT to get trapped into recycling the usual themes… oriental, ancient city, medieval etc. I know of this first hand. Here you make the Roman theme look so fresh and new. But if you bring the same high quality that you have here to some unconventional areas in the park then it’s going to be really, really great.
If I get round to installing RCT2, I’d love to take a closer look. Oh and the reason I said “almost perfect” is because there is no coaster in the screen
Sorry for the long post!
