"Heureka!" was a brilliant idea, it really made the park for me. Congratulations!

Congrats dave and all the other entrants. It's been great to see the coaster in so many different settings

nice job. when I have more time I will take a look at it ingame and comment on it like it deserves.

    Well deserved, congrats!
    Definitely the best entry.

Nice job on the win, Dave! I really liked this atmosphere here and the fact that it was a pretty unique theme choice really made it shine. Great colors and composition of buildings. Not to mention that boat is pretty kickass. Definitely a hard call for me to say if I liked this one more than Pacificoaster's but you have a fine piece of RCT here, dude. Hopefully you'll give us a full park soon!

Interesting to see the path layouts in this contest. When I first opened the bench I thought that there are two options. The one everybody else was using and this. A combination of both would have been best in my opinion, with the entrance placed like you did here Dave, which is why I never considered this to be a design layout, but more of a full park coaster layout. Never thought only one person was going for this path layout.

Congrats on another great contest win Dave.
Hope to have some time the next couple of days to view this ingame.

I agree with magnus that the path composition was what made this special and helped to integrate the coaster much more with the park, despite it being compact and "on its own", as it were. It's fine subliminal skills like these that separate great parkmakers.

I really enjoyed this entry for its uplifting 5Dave atmosphere trademark, its convincing theme execution and strong park flow. I was impressed with the underground ride you added. It made a lot of sense and I loved how you designed its entrance. Sometimes the buildings seemed a bit cramped together. You could have allowed a bit more space, no? I assume you were going for a dense and busy building arrangement, yet I don't think overall park clarity should ever be sacrificed for this.

My absolute favourite part of this was the station, especially the shrub work you did there. For me, the atmosphere is by far the strongest here as the colour harmony is explosive. I was especially impressed at how it is completely unnecessary for you to zero-clearance every full tile tree to put 1/4 shrubs unter it. The effect of the overgrownness is still completely alive and the lack of hacking makes everything much more organic. Very amazing, and a good example that more details and more hacking are not always desirable.

I hope you will keep delighting us with your RCT abilites, Dave!

The writeup says it all. Wonderful job, 5Dave! What a nice surprise.

I will post some 'little things'-screens soon.

Another park in what's becoming a pretty long list of incredible work from you man... You just know how to carry off a theme perfectly. I'd put you in the same boat as JK and XCoaster in that regard. Every single bit of scenery placed down adds to the whole, doesn't distract from the overall picture, and the park just builds and builds. Exceptional skill.

Thanks for the replies guys! :) But especially thanks for the contest and the prep team!

@Steve: Yeah I think it's time for a solo of me someday, let'ssee if I can find time :D

@Magnus: With combination you mean path in front and leading behind the coaster, right? I was surprised too that noone else did the path layout the same way, as it's really 'hugging' an area quite well.

@Posix: Thanks. Yeah I always seem to have the path-building ratio slightly too small, need to work on that. I was going for the crammed look and the buildings should work as gangways too for the crowds but that didn't worked out quite well. Y

@JDP: Yeah it was pretty tricky to hack them on but it was really worth it. The only downside is that the ride sounds like a steel coaster now ;)

    Thanks to all! :D

Loved this, I do think it deserved first. Such great planning of the spaces, well designed theme without being overly cliche, Liampie said basically everything in his writeup. So lively and well executed. I loved the placement of the pathing that hugged the coaster and gave it some interaction with the port, that is something I felt was missing in many of the entries.

    Congratulations!

Without question was this deserving of first place. You brought forth an ingenious concept and had it executed extremely well to exhibit an exceptional atmosphere. Being given such a compact coaster layout, you did a great job supporting, adding Intamin trains, and incorporating guest interaction. The gorgeous architecture and stellar port details added great reference to the Greek theme and the concept of Archimedes' accomplishments. Kudos to you Dave for coming up with one stunning concept and design. Can't wait to see what the future holds for you.

The buildings and setting are fantastic. The landscaping is a tragic mess.

I suppose because it doesn't make sense to my eyes and because I can't figure out what you were trying to get me to see.

(Clearly I'm doing these pics from the overview... sorry that they aren't better angles.)

Top left, I see what's going on, but I guess I just don't understand why it would be like that in a realistic sense. Why would it be overgrown next to the coaster, where they're more likely to keep things from growing on the supports? And why would the natural tree line continue through a fence? Am I looking too hard? absolutely. But I wouldn't be if it was a little cleaner on the eyes. Like the top right. I understand why the hedge is there, but they just look terrible and it catches my eye for all the wrong reasons. That one is more to do with the object than your placement, I think.

I have no idea what's going on here, but it doesn't look like a lot of thought went into it. This wasn't your focus, and it shows.

...But again, the buildings and atmosphere were fantastic.

I agree with you MA. These are his old habits from back in the day, but they're going away more and more.
  • 5dave%s's Photo
Hmmm... I can see why there shouldn't be foliage right next to the coaster. Maybe it got a bit close in some parts. I don't agree about the tree line stopping just because a fence. Or would you cut down trees just to build a fence?

The cut in the landscape shown in the 2nd screen wasn't really necessary, I agree. But it's just the map edge and I really didn't put much thought in that, that's true.

    Thanks for clarify!
